Will the Panic Button work while I'm out of cellular coverage?

Modified on Tue, 29 Jul at 4:18 PM

If you're completely out of cellular coverage, the panic button alert will not work as expected.
- The initial alert notifications will not go out to your emergency contacts.
- The backup call will not be placed.

The Panic Button process is designed to use an internet connection for the initial alert notifications, and a regular cell signal for the backup call. This is intentional because one or the other may still work in certain situations. For example:

- If you are in an area with very low cellular coverage (1 bar), you won't have cellular data available, and the initial alert notifications won't go out. But the backup call can still be placed.

- If you are in a building without cell coverage, but are connected to the building's Wifi, the initial alert notifications will go out, but the backup call cannot be placed.
